PAINTINGS

"The act of painting was something that i only picked up when i attended college.  It took a great deal to get used to this medium. There is always still room for growth."-Justin Anderson

see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil

"See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil"
24 x 24 inches each. Acrylic on wood.
$500.00 each

These three paintings were done for a themed art show for Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). In Japanese culture, the white snake is seen as a symbol of good luck and is a commonly known symbol of rebirth.  The snakes were an integral part of my art within the proverbial principle of “See No Evil, Hear No Evil, and Speak No Evil”. The Day of the Dead is a celebration of one’s time here on earth and it focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember those whom have passed.

Other inspirations are from Jackson Pollock of the abstract expressionist movement with the looseness of the paint splatters and free form textures as well as urban street art. Mediums used are Acrylic paint on Wood. Measurements are 24x24 for each piece.

 Underlying Meanings:
With the proverbs associations with being of good mind, speech and action, what you do here, what you say here, and what you see here may be reborn through others.

ENHANCED COURAGE

"Enhanced Courage"
20 x 48 inches. Acrylic on wood.
$1000.00

The White Tiger represents the virtue of courage in Japanese culture. It is a symbol of strength and willpower. This painting symbolizes your ability to overcome obstacles in life. I wanted those who view this to know that the courage you demonstrate on a daily basis allows one to defy difficult challenges.

 Underlying Meanings:
Gold-Enhances other things around it. It is associated with wisdom and self worth.  It inspires knowledge, spirituality and a deep understanding of the soul.

HANDS OF DOOM

"HANDS OF DOOM"
24 x 24 inches each. Acrylic on canvas.
$350.00 each

I wanted to do a series of works called The Destruction of Mickey Mouse. In that series, i would depict Mickey in various unorthodox and unflattering images. However, i knew that i may have received some heat on the legal end for doing this. So i put it on the shelf for a moment until i visited a local library to do some research. While at the library, i checked out an old compilation of sequential illustrations featuring Mickey Mouse. In some of the depictions he was holding several weapons such as pistols and shotguns. That's when the idea clicked.

 Underlying Meanings:
I wanted to pay homage to the old school cartoons that featured Tom and Jerry, Popeye, Bugs Bunny, and etc. Cartoons of my generation were filled with violence and humor that you don't see today.  The Hands of Doom also focus on different violent hand-held weapons that have been used throughout history. Not only that, this artwork that i present to you is a vision of how impending doom can be held over one's head....even in the hands of a cartoon.
